Making a Vintage Dollhouse Fresh & New
Painting an Orange tree on the exterior of the dollhouse
It has been so much fun to bring this old dollhouse back to life: to re-paint the exterior and create a 'landscape' on the exterior.
I used old letters to decoupage the attic to give the effect of 'old' and found wood tile designs on Etsy by Gravik for the flooring.
The Wallpaper in the Boys room is from my friend, Teresa Roche and is her 'Party Stripe Blue.' The wallpaper in the bathroom is from Etsy and the tile paper was found on Amazon.
Meredith Walker took her fabric designs and scaled them down for me to use for the Girl's Bedroom. The furniture in the room was sourced from Amazon (Bed link.) And the little bird paintings for the room came from Art & Light and were created by Diane Kilgore Condon.
The attic design started with a layer of vintage letters that I found and decoupaged to the ceilings and floors to give a vintage feel. The art and sewing elements came from Amazon. The 'rug' is a vintage textile repurposed as a coaster.
As this project comes together, I will share more. It has been so much fun tapping into something new and fun to get my creativity firing.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy these: they were so much fun to create and really felt like recess (& a great way to ease into 2024!)
For a while now, people have been asking for Beginner Needlepoint Canvases. What constitutes a 'beginner' canvas is a question you might have. For me, it is a small project, something with a limited amount of colors (three to four different threads,) and is a very simple design.
I've been mulling over simple wintery themes for Ornaments, and a sweet memory of my oldest child popped into my head from her very first snow day. We created a small snow angel and I wrote, 'The Snow Angel decrees a day of merriment and joy for all!'
It was a moment in time that was so small that has stayed with me over the years: a very simple, happy memory. That moment sparked the Snow Angel Beginner Needlepoint Canvas.
Each needlepoint canvas is painted by hand and is stitch painted based off of the Master created in my Downtown Greenville, South Carolina studio. The canvas measures approximately 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches and is painted on 18 count mesh.
The Beginner Snow Angel Needlepoint Canvas is the perfect beginner stitch!

The top row of the below photo features all of my current Needlepoint Ornament designs.
These canvases came from European shops (from when we lived in Spain,) and from some of my favorite American shops including Greenville's The Needle Tree, KC Needlepoint, and Needlepoint Lane.
My husband's first car was a Woody, so I had to stitch him this pillow:
Unfortunately my son's Needlepoint Stocking will not be complete for this Christmas: I think it is fine to hang unfinished projects in a grouping like this. Sorry George: Christmas 2024 will be your stockings' big reveal!
This Three Wisemen Stocking is by Meredith Collection and can be found on Needlepoint.com.
My Daughter's stocking was created by DJ Designs and can be found on NeedlepointAlley.com.
I hope you enjoyed this Needlepoint Christmas Decor tour! I just love stitching, and look forward to fun ways to decorate with my needlepoint each and every year at Christmas time! Drop a line below and tell me what type of ornaments I should design for 2024.
Cheers!
Its the start of the most wonderful time of the year: that means lots of decorating, fun with family and friends... and that it's time to pull out the Holiday Needlepoint!
This year, I launched my Needlepoint Canvas Line, and have decided to display my prized stitching on our bannister with a garland instead of putting them on the Christmas Tree.

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marquin Campbell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
The most meaningful project I have ever worked on is developing Needlepoint Canvases to sell. I was taught how to Needlepoint over twenty years ago by a great friend. In my years of stitching, I sewed belts, stockings, ornaments, and little pillows. During COVID, my husband and our two young children moved to rural Spain. During that time, I developed my own Needlepoint Canvases. (The Canvas is what stitchers use to stitch up various designs with fibers.) After stitching, I sent them to my finisher in the US and they made the into Ornaments, then professionally photographed, and offered them for sale on my website. The entire process took about three years to execute and lots of planning: but it has been really satisfying to get to the end goal of taking the Needlepoint Canvases to market.
I am an artist with a BFA in Drawing and Painting from The University of Georgia and a BA in Fashion Studies from Parsons, The New School for Design. All I’ve ever wanted is to create things and being a fine artist satisfies that need to make daily. The areas of my creative work range from Painting and Drawing, to Jewelry Design, to Fiber Arts, to surface design. I also own an online art gallery featuring works on paper from female artists called The Campbell Collective. I’ve found that every area I dabble in serves to help me learn more and more about the creative process and furthers my craft.
When we moved abroad during COVID, I had to really abandon how I worked. I did not sell as much as usual during that time, due to the issue of getting work back and forth from Spain, but that experience really was so helpful to my overall creative process because I realized you have to bake in downtime for creativity to flourish. I was diligent about my studio practice, but lots of the work was not made to sell necessarily (much of it I have retained for my personal collection because my time in Spain really marked what is to me a shift in my art-making.)
After returning from living abroad for 1.5 years, the take away is to go slower, to build in downtime to just think and doodle and exist, and to really want to bring forth quality beautiful craft.
The flexibility and freedom that comes along with being an artist. I like that it has allowed for me to be flexible enough to have a family, to travel, to create things I’m interested in.
Also to see things take life from start to finish: to see people wearing clothes with my patterns on them, or a beautiful home with one of my paintings installed, or to have collector tell me that they got into the traditional craft of needlepoint because of me. It is rewarding to share the images and colors that fill my mind with people, and for them to appreciate those things.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!
]]>Here is the most recent work I created for them that will come out for Holiday '24.
In my studio creating custom artwork for Prodoh to feature on the back of their t-shirts and in print repeats.
I sketch out the art and then paint in layers of colors with watercolors.
It has been a pleasure to create artwork to be used as textile repeats for the Female run, Greenville SC based children's clothing brand Prodoh.
For each season, Prodoh gives me the theme for the collection as well as color palettes. I use the theme and colors to develop the visual components for each collection. It is a fun and really fulfilling creative for me!
Thank you, Prodoh, for believing in my art for your brand: this sort of brand collaboration is an artists dream, and I really and truly appreciate it!
]]>I get questions all the time about where you can find my work in the Greenville, South Carolina area. I'm proud and excited to officially let y'all know that Cottage Grove Vintage Market has my art installed in the store.
]]>Cottage Grove is located at 1607 Laurens Road - Greenville, South Carolina 29607. They are open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm.
If you're a Greenville local or just visiting, be sure to pop by Cottage Grove: they have something for everyone and it is so easy to get to!
Earlier this year, I launched my Needlepoint Canvas Collection, and am thrilled to add three more additional canvas options to the collection.

'Ode to Picasso', 'Bouquet Canvas', and 'Ode to Matisse': New Needlepoint Canvas offerings are here!
'Ode to Picasso' is inspired by the late artists famous lithograph, 'Girl with a Dove' and was completed with threads from Augusta Needlepoint that can be found here. It is the inaugural canvas from what is going to be the 'Art History 101' collection: a group of Needlepoint Canvases that celebrate works of art by famous artists.
The 'Bouquet Needlepoint Canvas' is based off of my smaller collage/mixed media works where I visit making art out of torn papers. These works of art tend to be smaller in scale and I was hopeful that they would translate well as Needlepoint Canvases.
And the 'Ode to Matisse Needlepoint Canvas' is inspired by Matisse's Chapel in Vence, France. While styling abroad, I had the chance to visit it, and the encounter has stuck with me. It was fun to borrow the artists' shapes and colors to create this 'Ode' for him!
I hope all of the Needlepoint Stitchers out there are enjoying the line: thank you all for picking it up and happy stitching!

Im so excited to share the most recent collaboration with Prodoh Kids Clothing Line: a Greenville-SC based business that is growing rapidly! This is our 4th year of collaborating together and it has been so much fun to develop fun, whimsical artwork for the brand!
These Fall/Winter pieces are inspired by Nantucket. The patterns and surface design from this group are the best yet from our ongoing collaboration!

A big thank you to Emily for always making the process of posing for photos easy, enjoyable and low stress. She is a natural behind the camera, and always makes me feel at ease!
If you ever need a photographer, Emily is fantastic. Give her a shout if you're a Greenville local (all I can promise is it is more than worth your investment!)

Thank you, as always, for your support!
A very big and sincere thank you to all of the people who hopped on and shopped the collection!
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the stitchers out there for picking out a Needlepoint Canvas! These each are made with love and care: its been a labor of love to get them out into the world, and I am thrilled to finally se them launch!!
These fish have a peso, a telegram, painted papers, and notes all incorporated in them and are truly one of a kind!
I had a great time creating this pair: trout are in deep decline, and I hope that in making these fish, collectors take a moment and pause to consider their impact on the natural world.
]]>You can now purchase 16 x 20 inch archival paper Duck Prints of my originals (here they are, hanging in George's room in our house!)

I'm so excited to share this newest series: a release featuring Mixed Media Birds. This series started when my little boy asked me to create him some ducks for his big boy room. The two ducks I created for him were so fun to make that I just kept going and ended up with ten birds to share with collectors!
Here they are: these are the only birds I will be offering for 2022, but keep an ear to the ground for more to come in 2023.

]]>I have been so quiet on Social Media the month of January, and its all been intentional.
As a family, we knew transitioning back from living abroad in Spain for a year and a half would take some settling in and that is just what we have been doing.
I'm so excited about the series I've been working on. For me, painting is a journaling process: in this new series, I have been unpacking some visuals that have really stuck in my mind during our European travels.
And while I'm thrilled (and nervous!) to share them, I'm not quite yet ready to put them out there yet... these pieces are very different from any work I've created ever and I hope they resonate with my collectors.
In the meantime, here are some favorite photos from our final Spanish photo session with my photographer friend Maria who was always so much fun to collaborate with.

]]>As I type this, we are flying over the Atlantic Ocean on our return from spending a year and a half in Spain. I am totally overwhelmed and blown away by the beauty, the people, the food, the and all the unimaginable intangibles we have gotten to experience during this time as a family. I know that I speak for all four Campbells when I say that this season will go down as a special chapter for us.

That is why I am so thrilled to already be looking ahead to 2022 and the two upcoming Creative Retreats that I will be hosting in Spain. The links for both of these events goes live January 1st, 2022 and I'm hoping that the creative adventurers out there will join me.
at work in the Spanish studio we will be working from
The first retreat will be held July 3rd - 8th and the second retreat will be held July 17th - 22nd. Creatives, this is a fantastic business expense!!
I can not wait to share my version of Spain with the groups: we will go to museums, dine in favorite spots, visit beloved and inspiring spots, and it will be hosted on the property we lived in during our time in Soria, Spain.
Everyone will leave brimming with inspiration and new creative inspiration, because as Diana Vreeland famously said, 'The eye must travel.'
If you are looking for an insiders guide to an authentic deep dive into Spanish culture, living, and want to break away in a truly relaxed setting, this is absolutely the trip for you! (And in addition, you absolutely do not have to be an artist to join: just someone who will appreciate Spain through a creative lens!)
Hope to see you in Spain for the 2022 Creative Retreat!

Cheers- onwards & upwards towards 2022!

My brother, Heys, and his lovely wife, Lucy, were married in May in a small family celebration. Everything about the wedding totally embodied them: it was laid back, family-filled, and love filled.
For the rehearsal dinner, my Mom and sister searched high and low for masculine but appropriate (classic, design oriented, handsome) invitations and found they could not source what was in mind.
So I offered to create an invitation that included the couples beloved dog, Penny. The invitations also had elements of Spode's Woodland motif on them since we used the tableware for the rehearsal dinner.

]]>For 2021, my only business resolution was to create a monthly folly.
So many balls have been up in the air since we relocated to Spain, and for the new year it was important to me to not put an incredible amount of pressure on the business. 2021 is for play, discovery, and for wandering creatively.
The definition of Folly is 'a lack of good sense; foolishness' and these monthly creations have been just that: fun whimsies.

Summer is for Hand Painted Wicker.
When I saw this little wicker bag while perusing Parfois, I knew it would be a fun piece to paint for my monthly 'artist folly' series.
Shortly thereafter, we visited beautiful El Escourial, the vacation home of the Spanish king, just outside of Madrid. The blush pink China Roses were in bloom and made a stunning backdrop against the bag.
I hope to work with more brands and develop artist collaborations with them. In the meantime, this is a great way to envision my work on wearable things like bags.
