I am so excited about this small group of twelve Japanese Sumi Ink painting sketches on heavy body watercolor paper I have been working on.
For a while now, I have been wanting to create a small group of sketches of places visited and finally have gotten around to the idea.
The Cashiers and Highlands North Carolina area is so special to me: my family grew up summering up in the mountains and I also was married in the area.
Under most of the paintings, I have written a little blurb to act as a travel guide for those interested. For this project, there is some criteria: I only painted things that I knew well, had recently visited, and really and truly enjoy.
I hope you enjoy these- they were a joy to paint and it was very refreshing to dabble in more realistic subject matter.

'The Best View on the Lake / Lake Glenville' - 18 x 24 inches
Lake Glenville is a great spot to rent a boat and poke around: the lake has a town underneath it that was flooded to create a dam, rope swings, and two great waterfalls.
'The Lawn at Chattooga' - 18 x 24 inches
This is a special spot for me and my husband: we had a rehearsal dinner that was held on the Lawn here.
