Recently, I have really gotten into collage. Maybe I should say, I've enjoyed revisiting it: we all collage a bit when we are young, right? This group of small 5 x 7 inch canvas mixed media paintings has been a fun form of play for me. I've created them while joining my children outside as they have been playing in this unseasonably warm South Carolina weather. The first layer of these compositions is an old paint palette that I used while painting. The next layer is torn and cut papers and fabrics that have been layered together to create floral shapes. The papers have been painted and drawn on while working on other paintings. And some of the papers are from Chinese...
This past summer, my husband and I traveled to Florence, Italy and Tuscany. It was an amazing trip and so special for us to get away by ourselves. Of course I was inspired, and here is a small series inspired by the vacation.
Viva Italia!
Fall is supposed to have arrived, but in the South we are still experiencing blazing heat and there is truly no sign of cooler temperatures.
This morning, I walked my dog around a park and gathered some grasses, sunflowers, and interesting things growing by the trail to make a Fall Arrangement to summon the season.
It is positioned in front of a new painting I just completed with a fall inspired color palette: coral, grey blues, and burnt umber tones.
Here's hoping fall is upon us soon!
During Easter Season for a few years now, I've been offering up some Easter Crosses. This year, I have two options and they are art prints of two of my paintings placed under lucite.
I hope you check out the Reflection & Ripple Cross and add them to your Easter Baskets for your bunnies this year!
Yesterday, March 20th, was the first day of spring and let me tell you... it is TIME for a change of seasons! This year, I got a wild hair and decided to YouTube how to blow Eggs, dye them, and create our very own special DIY Easter Egg Tree. Warning to all of you: do not do this unless you have tons of time. I did the project over the course of a few days with my kids semi-watching and they thought the egg blowing and dying were really cool.
I hope you enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime creation. Now that the project is behind me, I'm so glad we took the time to create it.
