This month I'm gearing up for my 4th Creative Retreat in Soria, Spain. I can not wait to host the five wonderful women who are joining me this year, because there is absolutely something about Spain.
If you are an interior designer gathering inspiration (or purchasing antiques,) an artist coming to be inspired by Spain, or just want a creative reset, please know that I can not wait to host you for a week to see the world from a new angle!
Each of these trips has inspired me greatly and I love sharing 'my version of Spain' with American travelers!
I have been so quiet on Social Media the month of January, and its all been intentional. As a family, we knew transitioning back from living abroad in Spain for a year and a half would take some settling in and that is just what we have been doing. I'm so excited about the series I've been working on. For me, painting is a journaling process: in this new series, I have been unpacking some visuals that have really stuck in my mind during our European travels. And while I'm thrilled (and nervous!) to share them, I'm not quite yet ready to put them out there yet... these pieces are very different from any work I've created ever and I...
As I type this, we are flying over the Atlantic Ocean on our return from spending a year and a half in Spain. I am totally overwhelmed and blown away by the beauty, the people, the food, the and all the unimaginable intangibles we have gotten to experience during this time as a family. I know that I speak for all four Campbells when I say that this season will go down as a special chapter for us.
Since we moved to Spain, I have been waiting all year for the summer Poppy Fields! And when they started blooming, we found a field covered in them to snap some photos.
Summer is for Hand Painted Wicker.
When I saw this little wicker bag while perusing Parfois, I knew it would be a fun piece to paint for my monthly 'artist folly' series.
Shortly thereafter, we visited beautiful El Escourial, the vacation home of the Spanish king, just outside of Madrid. The blush pink China Roses were in bloom and made a stunning backdrop against the bag.
I hope to work with more brands and develop artist collaborations with them. In the meantime, this is a great way to envision my work on wearable things like bags.
